What I did was to ask my friends who owned a v1 switch if they would swap their switch with mine. One of them said yes, she kept my brand new v2 switch and I got a barely used v1 switch. Transferring the account and saves is pretty easy, just look it up on YouTube, plenty of tutorials there.

This. I bought my V1 switch secondhand off of Mercari and itβs worked great since I bought it, and after installing Atmosphere. Iβve been on two flights (carried on), taken it on road trips, and play it a moderate amount around the house. No issues at all.
Unpatched means the switch is 100% hackable via rcm; Patched means the switch is 100% unhackable via rcm; Potentially patched means the switch might be able to be hacked via rcm, but likely not.
